About Chear
Rationale for children's hearing assessment
A child with a hearing problem needs to be identified as soon as possible.
In the UK many babies have their hearing screened in the first weeks of life.
For those babies who do not pass the screen there are further tests to assess
the level and type of hearing impairment. This assessment is a first step in
the process of using the remaining hearing effectively to support the
development of hearing, listening and, ultimately, talking.
Chear is a specialised centre for hearing assessment, allowing fast access to
accurate hearing definition and consideration of management options.
