Trip to Beirut
I have recently returned from a third trip to the Learning Centre for the Deaf in Beirut. We ran training for local audiologists, speech therapists, hearing aid dispensers and other professionals in the morning sessions. In the afternoons we were able to see children with hearing aids to check their amplification and programme hearing aids when needed.
We were pleased to be able to bring a Verifit real ear measurement system for use in the LCD centre. The hospitality from Nadine and Hussein and their team at the LCD was marvellous.
I was particularly pleased to see Mohammed, a Syrian refugee, who we fitted with hearing aids 2 years ago, and who has now started at the school for the deaf. There is a short documentary about him made by Al Jezeera which we have shared on our Facebook page.
